7.6 on the Richter scale, it was the worst natural disaster to hit the region in decades. As a
result of the quake, more than 75,000 people were killed, 80,000 injured, and over 2.5 million
people were left homeless. While still in the emergency phases of the disaster, there is a need
for a long-term recovery and restoration program to help local people restore both their
livelihoods and communities through shelter construction, provision of educational facilities
and health programs.
Medical Clinics and Health Facilities
As the ongoing medical and health needs of quake survivors living in tent camps and
inadequate shelters continues to change, there is a need of medical staff and volunteers treat
the illnesses brought on by the cold, damp, and unsanitary living conditions. medical clinics
iare required in Pakistan who have no/little access to proper medical care.
Livelihoods Micro-credit for Women
As a result of the quake in northern Pakistan, more than 100,000 heads of livestock were
killed and, with it, the livelihoods of thousands of families, particularly female-headed
households. there is a need for restoring livelihoods by providing oxen and goats to women
affected by the quake.
Restoring Livelihoods and Enterprise
restoring livelihoods for quake-affected families by implementing comprehensive programs
focused on restoring the economy. CPK targets to incorporates agricultural assistance,
rebuilding community physical infrastructure, livestock restocking, providing grants to farmers
and communities, and initiating training programs to improve agricultural practices.
School Construction
Because the 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck during school hours, many children were inured
and killed when their schools collapsed. To mitigate the effects of future events, CPK aims to
build new earthquake-resistant schools that will serve hundreds of school-aged children.
